Early Years Field Trips

Field Trips play a vital role in the development of students. In Early Years, Field Trips make the learning process fun and energising. Recently, students and teachers of EY2, EY3 and EY4 have stepped out of the traditional classrooms and went on various field trips, bringing theoretical knowledge from books to life. Field trips provide a broader and more intuitive learning platform for them to experience the fun of learning and stimulate their passion for exploration through interaction with nature and society.
户外探究学习在学生的成长过程中扮演着至关重要的角色。对于幼儿园的孩子们来说,户外探究让他们的学习过程充满了乐趣和活力。最近,幼儿园小班至大班的师生们纷纷走出教室,前往各种不同的地方进行户外探究,让书本上的理论知识变得生动起来。同时,户外探究提供了一个更广阔和直观的学习平台,让他们在与自然和社会的互动中,体验学习的乐趣,激发探索的热情。

农场趣学 | 与大自然的对话

Our current unit of inquiry, Sharing the planet, has been all about understanding the interconnectedness of living things and the importance of caring for them. During our recent field trip to the 格林东庄(Ge Lin Dong Zhuang Farm in Pan Yu District), our EY2 students had the incredible opportunity to delve deeper into these concepts and discover how we can take care of living things.
我们在学习”共享地球 “探究单元时,了解到了生物之间的相互联系以及关爱生物的重要性。农场的户外探究为幼儿园小班的学生们提供了一个难得的机会,让他们在自然环境中亲身体验和学习,深入了解这些概念,同时学习到我们应该如何关爱生物。

Throughout the trip, our students engaged in various activities that allowed them to explore the needs of living things, our responsibility to care for them, and the intricate connections that exist between different organisms. One of the highlights was learning how to plant and nurture vegetables in the farm’s gardens. The facility staff guided them on the proper techniques of planting seeds and plants, emphasizing the significance of sunlight and water in their growth. They also had the chance to harvest radishes, witnessing first-hand the transformation from a tiny seed to a delicious vegetable that can be shared with loved ones.
学生们积极参与了丰富的活动,深入探索了生物生存所需的条件,以及关爱生物的重要性,并深刻感受到了不同生物间的联系。特别值得一提的是,他们在农场的菜园里亲手播种了蔬菜。在农场工作人员的指导下,他们学习了种植的技能,也深刻理解了光合作用的重要性。他们直观地体验了渺小的种子如何一步步生根发芽长成新鲜蔬菜的成长过程。

In addition to gardening, our EY2 students had the opportunity to interact with different animals and learn about their habits and needs. Feeding the ducks with corn allowed them to observe how these social creatures stick together, just like the close-knit friendships they have in EY2. They also had the chance to hold small rabbits and learn the importance of being gentle and respectful when interacting with animals. This field trip provided our young learners with a diverse range of experiences that further ignited their curiosity and allowed them to deepen their understanding of our unit of inquiry.
除了园艺活动, EY2的学生们还有机会与不同的小动物互动,了解它们的生活习性。在喂鸭子的过程中,他们观察到了动物之间的团结和协作,就像他们在生活中建立亲密友谊一样。在观察兔子时,他们了解到与动物互动时也应尊重和善待它们。这次户外探究为学生们带来了丰富多彩的体验,激发了他们的好奇心,加深了对探究单元的理解。

They are now eager to share their newfound knowledge with their classmates, friends, and family, spreading the message of caring for living things and the interconnectedness of our planet.
活动后,他们与同学、朋友和家人分享新发现的知识。作为地球公民的一份子,学生们用自己小小的力量积极地传递关爱,建立与周围事物的联系。

EY3 Pizza Making Trip
制作比萨 | 探究世界文化之旅

In the Unit of Inquiry – How We Express Ourselves, students are learning about stories about other cultures around the world. As they were exploring, students collectively were inquiring about food and culture in Italy. EY3 Teachers and students decided to have an exciting morning going to an Italian restaurant.
EY3的孩子在学习“我们如何表达自己”的探究单元时,探索了世界各地不同的文化。他们同时也研究了文化对饮食的影响。在探究单元的学习中,在他们学习到意大利的故事、文化与食物时,在讨论到大家一致喜欢的披萨时,他们决定动手制作属于自己的披萨。学校组织中班的学生和老师一同前往意大利餐厅制作披萨,希望孩子通过实践和户外探究活动加深他们对本探究主题的理解。

EY4 Concert Hall Trip
旋律探究 | 表演艺术的奥妙

On March 1, EY4 had a field trip to Xinghai Concert Hall. First, we watched an interactive play about a dandelion searching for its dream through a life journey. Children were able to participate in the creation of arts through singing, dancing, and listening to how musical instruments create different sounds and music during the play.
3月1日,EY4的孩子们前往星海音乐厅进行户外探究学习。探究学习以一场生动的互动话剧拉开帷幕,话剧围绕蒲公英在生命的各个阶段寻找梦想的过程展开。孩子们通过唱歌、跳舞和聆听等方式参与艺术创作,了解乐器如何在演奏过程中产生不同的声音和音乐。

Afterwards we had a tour inside the big orchestra hall. Through this tour they gained a general understanding of the acoustic and visual experience inside a concert hall. One of the largest musical instruments, the organ, was also introduced to them inside the hall. This massive concert hall organ was installed in early 1998 in the Xinghai Concert Hall. At the time of its construction, it was the largest pipe organ ever installed in Mainland China. Luckily, our children had a chance to get to listen to the organ performance in a live concert setting.
演出结束后,孩子们在导游的带领下参观了大管弦乐厅。通过这次参观,他们对音乐厅内的声学和视觉有了全新的体验。在导游的讲解下,他们了解到了最大的乐器之一——管风琴。1998 年初建成时,它是中国大陆有史以来最大的管风琴。宏伟精致的音乐厅令人叹为观止。在音乐会现场聆听管风琴演奏后,孩子们更加了解到了音乐的力量,对表演艺术的鉴赏力也有了更深刻的理解。

Field trips gave students a unique and interesting learning experience. Through visual observation and experience, students were able to better understand and apply theoretical knowledge, and enhanced their practical, social and hands-on skills. In this process, students’ curiosity and desire to explore are stimulated, and they exercise their observation and analytical skills in practice. We look forward to providing field trips opportunities in the future to enrich students’ learning experience and help them acquire a wider range of knowledge.
