In Design Technology, students learn to be innovative developers of products and systems and discerning consumers who will make a difference in the world. Design classes are an established part of the ISA Tianhe curriculum. For each Design project, students develop a design portfolio to provide ongoing evidence of the application of a design process and the specific technologies used in this process.
With its focus on design thinking, technology education supports students to be innovative, reflective and critical in designing new models, products, software, systems and tools. Design technology works to benefit people while taking account of their impact on cultural, ethical, environmental and economic conditions.
Design technology strives to ensure that all students:
- Develop the creative, technical and practical expertise needed to perform everyday tasks confidently and to participate successfully in an increasingly technological world
Build and apply a repertoire of knowledge, understanding and skills in order to design and make high-quality prototypes and products for a wide range of users
Critique, evaluate and test their ideas and products and the work of others
Understand and apply the principles of nutrition and learn how to cook. Through the processes of selecting, preparing, cooking, and serving food, students develop their creativity and experience a sense of accomplishment
